In May I joined a group of amazing people. These people are
part of Team IN Training, an organization dedicated to raising money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Together, with
help from friends and family, we will raise millions of dollars. The money we raise will be used to help find cures for
blood cancers like leukemia -- the No. 1 disease killer of children -- lymphoma and myeloma, and to improve the quality of
life of patients and their families. In exchange for the money we raise, the members of TNT receive training and support from
a great coaching staff.
On October 24th, I will be running 26.2 miles in the Nike 26.2 Women's Marathon in San Francisco,
CA in honor of those who have suffered from a blood cancer. But running 26.2 miles isn't my only goal. As most of you
know, I've also pledged to raise $4,000 for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I've sent fundraising letters to most
of you, and I'm going to make it even easier to donate. I've added a feature to my website that allows you to donate
online. Forget the checkbooks, forget the stamps. Just a few quick strokes of the keyboard and your donation will
be on its way.
Thanks so much for all of your support in helping me achieve
these two goals - I wouldn't be able to do this without you. Check the website often for updates on my progress.
Up to date info - 8/27/04 I'm getting ready to run my first race this weekend. On
Sunday, I'll be running a half marathon. I should be well prepared for the race and feel pretty confident. So
far, I've achieved 50% of my fundraising goal. Thanks so much to all that have contributed!!
9/20 Well I did it, I completed my first 1/2 marathon in 2 hrs and 6 min. It felt
good, but I think I can do better. I'm running in an 18 mile race this weekend and I'm going to try to improve my pace.
We'll see what happens. Fundraising is coming along as well. I only have $1,500 left to raise. With a few
creative ideas, I'm sure I'll reach my goal. Thanks again for all your support.
10/5 Last weekend, we traveled out to NJ and ran 20 miles of trails. It was a
nice change of pace from Central Park. That was officially our last long run. Now we're winding down and recovering
so that we're ready for the big day - only 19 days away. I feel so ready for it and can't wait to just DO IT!!!
Fundraising is going really well lately. Donations are still streaming in, and the t-shirt and cookie sales are off
to a good start. Thanks for your support!
